Join us for an exciting day of demonstrations by area metalworkers and craftsmen and learn how you can get started in metalworking. If you are invited to try your hand at the forge, a signed waiver will be required. Wares available for purchase. Please call to register 601-799-2311. Members and non-members, entry is $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under.

  • In order to participate in blacksmithing activities during the Crosby Arboretum’s Forge Day, a waiver must be signed by the participant or their legal guardian.

  • To ensure the safety of everyone, all participants will be under the instruction of a blacksmith. There are limited blacksmiths available, so please patient and stay in place until your turn at the forge.

  • Clothing considerations: If you have them, please bring safety glasses to wear to protect your eyes. Do not wear any synthetic material clothing. Synthetic material does not burn; it melts and may adhere to skin which can cause serious burns. It is requested you wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt (or jacket), and closed toed non-synthetic shoes. During forging, hot slag flies off the metal being forged. If it lands on bare skin, it can cause burns. Jeans and a sweatshirt are a good choice, since the weather looks be in on the cool side for Jan 28th.

  • As this is supposed to be a fun event, an injury is the last thing any of the blacksmiths want to see happen.
