The Living off the Land Foraging Series: Wild Medicinal Plants
Saturday, February 10, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
Joe Pye Weed, Beautyberry, Wax Myrtle, Beebalm, Yarrow and Plantain… what do all of these native plants have in common? A long history of ethnobotanical uses! Sandi Wicklund, Interpretive Refuge Volunteer for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for 14 years, will cover simple plant remedies such as topical applications, oral remedies, look-a-likes, portion size, plants for allergies and other conditions, as well as the critical need for a positive identification before proceeding with ingesting. Decoctions, tinctures, and salves will be discussed. Registration is required. Cost for members is $10, and $15 for non-members.
