The Mississippi Forestry Commission: Protecting Mississippi Renewable Resources
Meet SMOKEY BEAR and Celebrate his 80th Birthday! (Family program)
Saturday, September 28, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
PHOTO SHOOT is 11:00 to 11:30
Did you know that nearly nine out of ten wildfires nationwide are caused by human activities? Join Kevin Craft, Region 4 Outreach and Public Information Officer for the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Learn about burn bans, wildfire, controlled burning, timber management, careers, what the MFC offers landowners, and how you can prepare for the upcoming fall wildfire season. Smokey Bear will also be making an appearance. He is still a vital part of the country’s wildfire prevention initiative and is a regular “spokesbear” in MFC outreach programs, where he helps to educate people about the dangers of careless fire use. After the program, have your picture taken with Smokey Bear! Online registration is required, but this program is free to all.
