The Native Plant Producer Network: Growing Native Wetland Plants for Coastal Restoration

Saturday, January 11, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

This program will discuss wetland ecology and conservation, wetland plant species, “seeds to restoration,” and information / instructions on how you can help boost the stock of locally sourced native wetland plants (Spartina and Juncus) for coastal restoration projects. The Native Plant Producer Network (NPPN) is a new project funded by NRCS focused on building a network of native plant producers for local “living shoreline” restoration projects. Homeowners and home gardeners, hobbyist gardeners, teachers, and existing or potential nursery owners will learn how to become involved in coastal restoration from Eric Sparks, Director of Coastal & Marine Extension and Associate Extension Professor along with Kaitlyn Mitchell, Extension Associate, Jaden Akers, Extension Associate, Megan Chevis, Extension Associate, and Nora Skinner Extension Associate. Future programs and workshops are planned.
